Disecting Flags
During the holidays I made a pillow with my Mum. It was made out of an old torn Maritime flag that I got from my Dad.
First we cut the stars out of the ripped end, and then we disected the flag into two pieces, the ripped and the nonripped.
Then we sewed the stars on the plain side of the flag, but we left a bit open and stuffed it full of stuffing. Once the stars were full I sewed them shut. This is a technique called appliqe.
Then we put it all together, made an inner and sewed it up. This is what it looks like all together.
